Why are the Amish people not used as the control group when it comes to eating healthier food in America?

Because people who know the Amish know that they don’t eat healthier food. There are two big misconceptions here, one about the Amish and one about food.
The idea that homegrown, “organic”, or food with fewer preservatives are healthier is a marketing lie put out by big organic. It’s about eating a variety of foods, mostly plants, not too little and not too much, and none of those are helped by so called “natural” diets. But even if it were…
The Amish don’t eat natural and healthy food. They eat a massive amount of what is commonly called junk food, both of the fast food and grocery store variety and homemade goods, loaded with sugar, carbs, and saturated fats. When eaten in moderation, that’s all fine, but moderation isn’t really a key word here and they eat massively. Obesity is a huge problem among the Amish.
People need to realize Amish aren’t a back to nature, living off the land group of pseudo hippies. That’s just a marketing image that they present to sell goods to gullible people. It’s not real.
